Partnership wins funding to enhance the use and application of AI for PGR ecosystem

The University of Leeds and Aston University have launched the Artificial Intelligence Researcher Development Network Plus (AI.RDN+), receiving a £3.4 million funding boost from the Research England Development Fund. This four-year initiative aims to enhance the use of publicly available AI tools in PhD research, promoting responsible adoption and innovation. Led by Dr. Hosam Al-Samarraie and Professor Arunangsu Chatterjee from Leeds, along with Professor Phil Mizen from Aston, the network includes 20 universities, fostering collaboration and sharing of best practices. AI.RDN+ will address the gap in guidance for doctoral researchers regarding AI tools, aiming to equip them with skills and knowledge through extensive consultation and resource development. Supported by various expert organizations, the project aligns with the UK higher education sector’s commitment to ethical and innovative AI use in research, ultimately benefiting both researchers and society.
