Gmail has officially entered its Gemini era with the rollout of the powerful “Proofread” feature across various Workspace plans. Previously available only to high-end subscribers, this tool is now accessible to Business, Enterprise, and Education users. Unlike basic spellcheck, Proofread acts as a professional editor, offering real-time suggestions on conciseness, active voice, sentence structure, and word choice—all designed to enhance professional communication.
This feature is rolling out to multiple tiers, including Business Starter, Standard, Plus, and Education plans, allowing many small businesses and students to capitalize on its benefits. For a limited time, users will enjoy higher usage limits to explore Proofread’s capabilities. The rollout began on February 4, 2026, and may take up to 15 days for full availability. Notably, the feature is enabled by default, with options for users to disable it in settings.
