Gemini Launches Tokenized Stock Trading for Crypto Investors

0

Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has launched tokenized stocks for customers in the European Union (EU), starting with shares of MicroStrategy (MSTR), the largest corporate Bitcoin holder. This initiative was announced via an X post, with more stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) planned for future rollout. Gemini collaborated with Dinari, which recently gained broker-dealer registration from FINRA, enabling it to offer tokenized U.S. stocks. This development aligns with the growing demand for tokenizing traditional financial products on blockchain technology. Other crypto exchanges, such as Coinbase and Kraken, are also exploring trading in tokenized securities, while Robinhood is reportedly developing tokenized U.S. stocks for EU users. Additionally, Gemini secured a MiFID II license from Malta last month, allowing it to offer derivative products throughout the European Economic Area.
