Android Auto may let Gemini access your car's location

Google has announced the long-awaited launch of Gemini on Android Auto, starting today, although the rollout will take several months. Gemini, an AI-powered voice assistant, will replace Google Assistant for users who have upgraded on their phones. Key features include enhanced navigation capabilities, allowing users to add stops on Google Maps, process voice-activated text messages with natural language adjustments, and facilitate translations in real-time. Gemini can also generate playlists on demand via Spotify and YouTube Music, and perform tasks like locating addresses from Gmail reservations. Additionally, Gemini Live supports natural conversations, making it easier to research topics while driving. The rollout begins globally, supporting 45 languages, and can be activated by saying “Hey Google” or by pressing the microphone button. Users can expect significant upgrades that enhance the Android Auto experience while prioritizing safety on the road.
