Gen Z leader Sudan Gurung claims AI used to exaggerate crowd at UML convention - myRepublica - The New York Times Partner, Latest news of Nepal in English, Latest News Articles

In a recent social media exchange, Gen Z leader Sudan Gurung has mocked CPN-UML’s Mahesh Basnet for allegedly using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to inflate the crowd size at the party’s 11th general convention in Bhaktapur. Gurung claims that Basnet, after failing to meet his promise of 500,000 attendees, resorted to technology to manipulate images, making the turnout appear larger than it was. He sarcastically suggested that drone images were inputted into ChatGPT with the aim of enhancing the crowd size, which he deemed misguided confidence. Basnet previously posted images from the event, claiming they represented just a fraction of the attendees. However, one of the shared images was later identified as altered using Google’s AI tool, Gemini. This revelation sparked widespread criticism and ridicule on social media, turning the incident into a viral topic of discussion.
