On Friday, Cloudflare suffered a significant outage, disrupting global internet access and impacting various services. Popular platforms like Canva, Spotify, Notion, and Coinbase faced connectivity issues, frustrating users and disrupting business operations. Trading apps such as Groww and Zerodha were also affected, preventing users from logging in or accessing market data. Cloudflare cited “internal service degradation” related to its Dashboard and APIs, impacting platforms including LinkedIn, AI tools like ChatGPT, and even Downdetector, which monitors outages. In response, Zerodha advised users to utilize its WhatsApp backup for trades. This marks the second major outage for Cloudflare in recent months, highlighting its critical role as an intermediary in web traffic and cybersecurity. Social media users expressed frustration and humor regarding the situation, questioning the reliance on a single company for internet stability. Cloudflare later announced a fix and began monitoring service recovery.
