Google is set to enhance its Gemini AI assistant on Android with significant upgrades aimed at phasing out Google Assistant. Current reports reveal features like Gemini Live, featuring real-time voice interactions and improved memory capabilities that remember visual inputs, personalizing responses and handling noise better in busy environments. A new “Live Thinking Mode” allows Gemini to pause before responding, offering more thoughtful answers in conversations.
Additionally, a “Deep Research” feature could enable users to delegate complex research tasks to Gemini, although specifics remain unclear. The most intriguing advancement is the “agentic” mode, which would allow Gemini to autonomously manage tasks such as altering settings or opening apps. While these features are found in code hints within the Google app, no official announcements have been made, indicating they are still under testing. Users are advised to remain cautious until Google formally confirms these enhancements to Gemini.
