Google Bard now has an AI image generator with digital watermarking

Google’s AI chatbot, Bard, has introduced an innovative text-to-image generation feature powered by Imagen 2, its latest diffusion model. This advancement allows users to create images directly within Bard, a significant upgrade from its previous image-recognition capabilities. Additionally, all images produced using Imagen 2 will feature a digital watermark known as SynthID, ensuring authenticity. Google is also prioritizing responsible AI use by forbidding the generation of depictions of “named people” to prevent deepfake misuse. Bard joins a growing roster of AI image generation tools, including Google’s other products like SGE and Duet AI, and competes with offerings from ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. Currently, Bard’s text-to-image feature is available in English, with Gemini Pro launching across various languages and countries. With a commitment to distinguish between AI-generated visuals and original artwork, Google aims to foster safe and transparent AI creations.
