Google says there are 'no plans' to put ads in the Gemini app

A recent AdWeek report suggests Google plans to introduce advertisements in its Gemini AI chatbot by 2026, contradicting its current advertising strategy. However, Google firmly denies these claims. Dan Taylor, VP of Global Ads, asserted via Twitter that there are “no ads in the Gemini app” and no plans to implement them, labeling the report as based on “uninformed, anonymous sources.” The company’s AdLiaison account reinforced this stance, stating that while ads currently exist in AI Overviews and are expanding to more English-speaking countries, they are not part of the Gemini app. This denial comes as Gemini experiences significant growth, boasting over 650 million monthly users—an increase from 350 million earlier this year, partly driven by its integration with Nano Banana, which attracted 23 million new users. As Gemini continues to flourish, Google remains committed to a clear, ad-free user experience within the application.
