Google is enhancing its fight against digital fraud in India by introducing advanced AI tools and features for Pixel 9 devices. With the rise of online transactions, fraud accounted for significant financial losses, totaling approximately ₹70 billion in early 2025. The new on-device scam detection feature utilizes Gemini Nano to analyze calls for potential fraud without recording audio data. This feature currently supports only English-speaking users and is initially limited to Pixel 9 devices. Additionally, a pilot program is underway with financial apps like Navi, Paytm, and Google Pay to combat screen-sharing scams.

Google’s ongoing initiatives also include blocking predatory loan apps and running the DigiKavach awareness campaign, which has reached over 250 million individuals. Despite these efforts, challenges persist, as misleading apps still permeate the Play Store, highlighting the complexities in securing India’s rapidly growing digital landscape.
