Google has launched a Temporary Chat feature for Gemini users, enabling private conversations without chat history or retention. This function ensures that conversations are excluded from recent chat lists, Gemini Apps Activity records, and are not utilized to train Google’s AI models. Temporary Chats are retained for up to 72 hours to process feedback and are deleted afterwards, enhancing user control over data and privacy. Similar to Incognito Mode, it addresses growing privacy concerns among AI users. Additionally, Google has introduced a memory capability allowing the AI to learn from past interactions, facilitating personalized responses based on user preferences. Activated by default, this feature connects conversation threads, enabling context-aware suggestions. While the memory function launches with the Gemini 2.5 Pro model in select regions, users can manage their settings to control data retention. This evolution in Gemini reflects Google’s commitment to user privacy and personalized AI experiences.
