Google Enhances Vids with New AI Features for Video Editing
This month, Google unveiled significant upgrades to its Vids video editor within the Workspace productivity suite. New features include AI avatars, the image-to-video tool Veo 3, and automatic transcript trimming, which removes unnecessary pauses and filler words like “um” and “ah.” These enhancements cater to Workspace Business, Enterprise Starter users, and Google AI Pro or Ultra subscribers, as well as Workspace for Education customers. In an effort to compete with startups like Synthesia and D-ID, Google also launched a free version of Vids, offering basic controls and access to templates and stock media, albeit without AI functionalities. Users can post scripts, choose avatars, and leverage AI tools to create cost-effective videos without extensive resources. These updates position Google as a formidable player in the evolving video editing landscape, enhancing productivity for users seeking advanced solutions.
