Google rolls out Gemini AI on Google TV with TCL’s QM9K series

Google is developing an innovative feature called ‘Insights’ for its Messages app, leveraging Gemini AI to summarize web links shared in chats. Discovered in the latest beta version, this trait enables users to access key webpage information directly without opening a browser. By tapping the small button beneath shared link previews—marked by the Gemini logo—users will soon preview main ideas or highlights. Currently non-functional, it shows a message indicating that Gemini isn’t available yet, suggesting ongoing testing. Notably, Insights only activates for received links and requires the ‘Show only web link previews’ setting. This feature aligns with Google’s strategy to embed Gemini into Android experiences, enhancing functionalities seen in Gmail, Docs, and Chrome. Despite its potential, Google faces scrutiny regarding Gemini’s integration amid past controversies and antitrust issues. Although not officially announced, the development signifies Google’s commitment to innovation within its suite of applications.
