This growth follows Google’s initiative to provide free access to its premium AI Pro plan, typically valued at Rs 19,500 annually, for eligible Indian college students until September 15, 2025. Launched in June, the Gemini app supports nine Indian languages and is accessible for Android users through various methods, including voice commands. Google is also investing in India’s AI capabilities, highlighted during the Google I/O Connect India 2025 event in Bengaluru. The company revealed plans for onshore processing of Gemini 2.5 Flash, enhancing AI performance for sectors like healthcare and finance. Collaborations with startups like Sarvam and IIT Bombay aim to develop localized AI models and advance automatic speech recognition for Indic languages, reinforcing Google’s commitment to empowering Indian developers and businesses.
