Sundar Pichai says ChatGPT’s launch was a turning point for Google, not a setback

Google has introduced its Gemini AI to Chrome on iPhone and iPad, enhancing browsing capabilities for iOS users with features like quick help, explanations, and summaries. The rollout includes a new spark icon, replacing the Google Lens camera, enabling access to the Pages tool and the Ask Gemini feature. Users can engage with the AI for webpage summaries, simplified explanations, FAQs, recipe modifications, and personalized recommendations, all shown in a floating chat window. However, the feature has limitations: it’s currently available only in the U.S., requires English settings, and mandates Chrome sign-in, excluding Incognito mode. Additionally, users must be 18 or older. Caution is advised, as the AI can sometimes produce misleading information. This update solidifies Google’s commitment to integrating AI within its browser for smarter online experiences.
