Google Gemini is set to introduce a long-awaited feature called “Branch in new chat,” similar to ChatGPT’s branched chats, allowing users to create new conversations without losing previous context. Discovered in the beta version 17.10.54.sa.arm64 of the Google app, this tool can be accessed through a three-dot menu below each response. It enables users to explore different topics while maintaining the integrity of the main chat. This avoids the confusion of starting anew and losing previous discussions. Each branched conversation will be categorized in the Chats section with a “Branch” prefix, making it easy to distinguish between main and branched chats. Although there is no official release date for this feature, early functionality has been noted, suggesting a potential rollout for desktop users before mobile platforms. This enhancement reflects Google’s commitment to improving user experience in AI conversations.
