Google’s Gemini AI is evolving into a more capable assistant, enhancing task automation on devices like the Pixel 10 and Samsung Galaxy S26. Users can prompt Gemini with requests, such as “Get me an Uber to the Palace of Fine Arts,” and it will navigate through the app to complete the task. This automation allows users to monitor the process, intervene if needed, or let Gemini operate in the background. Notifications will alert users if their input is necessary. According to Sameer Samat, Android’s ecosystem president, this feature is part of a broader vision to transform Android into an “intelligence system.” Moreover, the functionality extends beyond Gemini, as upcoming Android releases will incorporate similar task automation significantly. Currently, automation is limited to select apps like Uber and Grubhub, with initial availability in the U.S. and Korea. As technology progresses, developers and users alike will need to adapt to this innovative approach.
