Google is set to launch AI-powered glasses featuring its assistant, Gemini, designed for everyday use. The tech giant announced two versions: screen-free AI glasses with built-in speakers, microphones, and cameras for natural interaction and photography, and display AI glasses with in-lens displays for real-time information like navigation and translations. Collaborating with manufacturers Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, Google aims to release the glasses early next year, building on its past experience with smart glasses, which faced significant challenges. Unlike the original Google Glass, which garnered skepticism due to privacy issues and design flaws, these new glasses function under a new Android XR system supporting augmented reality for applications like Google Meet and Maps. With Apple also developing smart glasses for a 2026 launch, the market is heating up. A detailed announcement regarding design and pricing is anticipated at a future event.
