Google Imposes Usage Limits on Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro Due to Surging Demand

Google launched Nano Banana Pro image generator in the Gemini app.

Google has quietly reduced access limits for its popular Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro tools, leaving free-tier users facing unexpected constraints. Initially allowing five daily prompts, Gemini 3 Pro now offers only “basic access,” with limits that fluctuate based on demand. Nano Banana Pro’s free image creations have dropped from three to two per day. These changes, not publicly announced, were first noted on an updated support page, highlighting Google’s strategy to manage increasing user demand without straining its servers. Users relying on these tools for research and content creation may find the limitations significant, as reaching the cap reverts them to Google’s Fast model. Although casual users might not be affected, daily users will quickly notice the impact. To maintain stable performance, Google is nudging heavier users towards its $20/month AI Pro Plan. The ongoing updates also extend to NotebookLM, which is experiencing similar access limitations for free users.
