Google Maps has received its largest update in over a decade, introducing two groundbreaking features: Ask Maps and Immersive Navigation. Ask Maps, powered by Google’s advanced AI Gemini models, allows users to pose specific questions about destinations, like finding charging stations or interesting nearby spots. It utilizes data from over 300 million locations and 500 million contributors for personalized recommendations. Users can even save favorite locations and make reservations directly within the app.
On the other hand, Immersive Navigation transforms the navigation experience by offering a 3D view, highlighting essential road details such as lanes and traffic signals in real-time. The update also includes features such as advanced routing notices, natural voice guidance, parking suggestions, and real-time road alerts. This comprehensive upgrade will roll out to eligible iOS and Android devices, alongside CarPlay and Android Auto, enhancing user convenience and navigation accuracy.
