Google Play Store is undergoing a significant overhaul, introducing AI-powered features and a redesigned Apps tab designed for better app discovery. A standout addition is the Gemini Live function within the new Sidekick feature, an in-game overlay that enables users to take screenshots, record gameplay, and stream matches on YouTube. Gemini Live serves as an AI assistant, providing real-time support during gaming sessions. However, users with OEM gaming modes may need to disable either feature to avoid conflicting pop-ups.
Additionally, a new “You” tab will be introduced, offering personalized content management through stats, recommendations, and updates. This tab will also include tailored audiobook and podcast suggestions. Users can create gamer profiles to track stats and customize avatars using Gen AI. After three years in beta, Google Play Games will be fully launched, supporting over 200,000 titles across mobile and PC. The update will roll out this week in select markets, expanding on October 1st.
