Gemini has transitioned from a blue-purple palette to Google’s iconic four-color scheme on Android, following a significant update to its overlay. This change began in late June, introducing the four-color icon to both Android and iOS apps and updating the homepage greeting to a blue accent. The redesign also applied to the website, softening the sparkle icon.
The rollout for Android commenced in early July, allowing users to access the new overlay by swiping from the bottom corners or through the power button. The stable version is now available with Google app 16.30, so ensure your app is updated via the Play Store.
The new animation features vibrant colors, transitioning from red, yellow, green, and blue to a dominant light blue, including the microphone ring indicator. While the overall look adapts to light and dark themes, the old icon remains in the Recents multitasking menu, tied to the Google app experience.
