Google has officially launched its AI coding agent, Jules, powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro, after a successful beta phase that began in May. Jules enhances productivity by asynchronously integrating with GitHub, cloning codebases into Google Cloud virtual machines, and utilizing AI to update or fix code. Initially introduced as a Google Labs project, Jules has undergone numerous UI and quality enhancements, leading to its recent full launch.
The rollout includes structured pricing tiers, starting with a free plan allowing 15 daily tasks, down from the 60-task cap during beta. Paid plans in the Google AI Pro and Ultra tiers cost $19.99 and $124.99 monthly, respectively. Jules also features a clear privacy policy, ensuring private repositories remain confidential. Since entering beta, Jules has recorded 2.28 million visits, with 45% stemming from mobile devices. This innovative tool improves developer efficiency by enabling task execution without requiring constant user oversight, setting it apart from synchronous coding tools.
