Google has launched Doppl, an experimental AI app that allows users to create videos of themselves in different outfits. By uploading a photo of themselves and a screenshot of the desired outfit, users can visualize how the clothing would look in motion. Doppl enhances the virtual try-on experience, building on a previous feature that enabled users to upload full-body photos to view numerous clothing items from Google’s Shopping Graph. Currently available on iOS and Android in the U.S. for users aged 18 and older, Doppl raises concerns about potential misuse, as individuals could generate looks using photos of others. While content will have invisible digital watermarks, Google emphasizes that it will anonymize uploads for privacy during review. The company aims to improve its services through data collected via Doppl, despite the experimental nature of the app, which may lead to inaccuracies in fit and appearance.
