Google has introduced Mixboard, an experimental AI tool designed to help users create mood boards for various design projects. Launched in beta for the U.S. market, Mixboard utilizes the innovative Google Gemini 2.5 Flash model, enabling users to explore and refine ideas through visuals and text. This versatile tool allows users to customize boards using pre-designed templates or prompts, similar to established platforms like FigJam and Adobe Firefly Board. Users can generate or upload images based on specific requests, such as “show me cups, bowls, and plates in Memphis style” or “plan an autumn party.” The AI can also edit images with Google’s new image editing model, Nano Banana. Since its release, Gemini has surpassed ChatGPT to become the top app in the U.S. App Store. Features like “regenerate” and “more like this” allow for effortless idea variations, while text generation based on board content enhances creativity.
