Google is rapidly integrating its AI image tool, Nano Banana, powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash Image technology. Recent code discovered in Google Messages version 20251009 indicates the imminent arrival of this functionality within the messaging app. A placeholder banana icon appears when users long-press an image, signaling upcoming AI-driven image generation and editing capabilities.

Nano Banana is already enhancing various Google services, including Google Search’s AI Mode and NotebookLM, with future plans for Google Photos and Google Lens. Users can create or edit images by providing text prompts, ensuring consistency in the output.

With the rollout of Nano Banana, users can now generate images using emojis in Google Lens and share their creations across platforms, including WhatsApp via Perplexity’s bot. The feature is expanding globally, now available in 35 languages across 40 countries. This integration reflects Google’s commitment to embedding AI capabilities throughout its product ecosystem.
