Google’s AI research assistant, NotebookLM, has introduced customizable Audio Overviews, allowing users to tailor the tone of their AI podcasts summarizing documents like course readings or legal briefs. Users can choose from four formats: “Deep Dive,” featuring in-depth discussions; “Brief,” offering concise overviews; “Critique,” providing reviews and constructive feedback; and “Debate,” where two AI hosts present contrasting perspectives. Each format enables users to decide the length of their podcast.
Additionally, Google has added new voices for these AI podcasts, enhancing user experience. This update follows recent enhancements to NotebookLM, including Video Overviews, which transform complex multimedia content into engaging presentations. The platform has also introduced featured notebooks from various authors and organizations, broadening topic exploration. NotebookLM apps for Android and iOS were launched earlier this year. This latest feature rollout is available in all languages and is set to reach all users soon.
