The government is intensifying efforts to implement agentic artificial intelligence (AI) across its operations, spearheaded by the Ministry of Science and ICT through the AI-NEXT project. This initiative aims to integrate specialized AI agents into five key administrative areas by year-end, including radio frequency licensing, electromagnetic assessments, budget analysis, National Assembly requests, and news summarization. With a budget of 3.17 billion won ($2.14 million) for this year, the ministry plans to enhance its document management infrastructure with AI by 2028. Concurrently, the Ministry of Intellectual Property is developing an agent model to simplify patent information on its Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service portal. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance is launching the AI-ONE platform, aiming for a centralized, task-specific AI service infrastructure. These efforts signal a national priority towards AI integration in public administration, leveraging advances in technology to create an efficient, agent-driven environment.
