Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the integration of AI tools in teaching across all educational levels, initiated by the creation of Bodhan AI at IIT Madras’s Centre of Excellence in AI for Education. This not-for-profit aims to develop the Bharat EduAI Stack, a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) designed to enhance educational access. Key focuses include AI capabilities for Indian languages through automatic speech recognition and synthesis. The initiative seeks collaboration with edtech companies and state governments to distribute AI solutions to schools.
These tools will promote personalized learning, assist teachers and parents, and support administrative decisions. Prof. Kamakoti emphasized the importance of multilingual capabilities for AI in education. While existing tools exist, Bodhan AI will establish a foundational infrastructure for further development. Data privacy is a priority, ensuring student information remains secure. The project aligns with the NEP 2020 and aims for community-driven sustainability, much like the Linux operating system.
