A group of innovative Green Level High School students has developed an app named RadiAid, designed to detect osteosarcoma, a bone cancer prevalent among kids and young adults. The creators—Hasini Kanthi, Isaac Yuan, Hila Belinson, Sathvik Talluri, and Jacob Iwaniw—utilize AI to analyze radiographic scans, offering a solution that addresses the challenges of accessing timely diagnoses in rural areas. Their journey began when Kanthi sought expertise from Dr. Eward at Duke University, leading to team formation through a selective recruiting process.

RadiAid has already secured several accolades, including recognition in the Toshiba ExploraVision National Science Competition, where they emerged as one of six winners in the 10-12 grade category. The team aspires for FDA approval and aims to make their app accessible to low-resource clinics, emphasizing their commitment to revolutionizing the biotechnology field and improving patient care. The regional award ceremony is scheduled for March 24, with national winners announced on April 28.
