Gujarat Police have launched an innovative AI tool named ‘NARIT’ (Narcotics Analysis & RAG-based Investigation Tool) to enhance the investigation of narcotics cases under the NDPS Act. This first-of-its-kind application provides real-time legal guidance and analyzes case strengths and weaknesses, aiming to improve conviction rates. Developed in collaboration with a Mumbai-based AI startup, the tool streamlines the investigative process, reducing delays historically caused by specialized staff limitations. By uploading FIRs, police can receive tailored analysis reports that highlight legal compliance, identify procedural gaps, and suggest investigation plans. NARIT also predicts courtroom defenses, making it a significant asset in the legal landscape. With a zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics crimes led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, this AI tool embodies a commitment to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Gujarat Police. The application is designed for ease of use by officers of all ranks, ensuring rapid adoption and procedural accuracy.
