Massachusetts Governor Maura T. Healey announced a partnership with OpenAI, launching ChatGPT-powered AI assistants for over 45,000 executive-branch employees. This initiative aims to assert Massachusetts as a leader in artificial intelligence amidst growing public-sector and commercial adoption. The announcement was made during the launch of the Massachusetts AI Coalition, which includes prominent companies like Whoop and DraftKings, and plans to host over 100 AI events this year to foster collaboration in Boston’s AI ecosystem. Ryan W. Durkin from Whoop emphasized the goal of attracting and retaining companies in the state. Despite Massachusetts’ strong academic base, it lags behind cities like San Francisco in large-scale AI investments. Local entrepreneurs highlighted the need for improved collaboration to enhance competitiveness. The AI Coalition’s event attracted over 250 attendees, signaling a hunger for community building and idea exchange, a critical factor in defining Massachusetts’ role in the global AI economy.
