At 60, I faced concerning health issues like weight loss, fatigue, and abdominal discomfort, leading me to demand exhaustive testing from my doctors. Despite undergoing various tests, my condition was initially misdiagnosed as mild gastritis. After relocating due to a fire, an emergency room visit revealed aggressive blood cancer related to multiple myeloma, missed by previous doctors. To enhance diagnosis, I built an AI medical agent named “Haley,” which analyzed my medical data and flagged concerning patterns like anemia and immune dysfunction. Expanding my team of AI specialists informed my treatment decisions by providing personalized insights and alternative regimens that weren’t initially considered. I ultimately achieved a strong response from an off-label treatment, thanks to this collaborative approach. My experience highlights the potential of AI to enhance patient-doctor partnerships, enabling personalized, efficient healthcare and empowering patients like me to take an active role in their treatment journey.
