Chinese AI pioneer iFlytek Co Ltd hosted an international symposium on multilingual large language models during the 2025 World AI Conference in Shanghai. This event gathered 30 representatives from various academic and industry sectors across 20 countries in Asia and Europe, featuring speeches by 10 prominent AI experts from regions including China, the UK, and Hungary. iFlytek’s Dean, Liu Cong, emphasized the company’s goal to offer a viable alternative in the global AI market through comprehensive multilingual models. Liu introduced the enhanced Spark Model X1, which now boasts support for over 130 languages and outperforms OpenAI’s GPT-4.1 in key languages such as Arabic and Japanese. The symposium highlighted innovations like mixed-language routing, enabling the Spark voice recognition model to cover 100 languages and establishing its voice synthesis model as an industry leader with 55 languages. This marks a significant milestone in promoting multilingual AI solutions worldwide.
