Microsoft is actively enhancing Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers for Business Applications, facilitating AI scenarios within Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. At Ignite 2025, updates were announced, notably with the Dataverse MCP Server now generally available, designed for agent development using Copilot Studio and GitHub Copilot in VS Code. This server features a natural language interface for real-time query responses and the ability to manage table data. The MCP framework has been significantly updated for Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (ERP), allowing dynamic registration and modification of actions and APIs, replacing static tools. According to Microsoft MVP Andre Arnaud de Calavon, these advancements are “mind-blowing,” though some capabilities remain in preview and can be inconsistent. The Dynamics 365 ERP MCP server for analytics is set to enter public preview in December, providing governed access to Business Performance Analytics data.
