IISER Thiruvananthapuram is pioneering AI-driven crime monitoring tools in collaboration with the Kerala Police, as detailed in a report by Director J.N. Moorthy during the institute’s 13th convocation. This initiative is spearheaded by the newly established School of Data Science, aiming to harness AI for impactful applications. Additionally, IISER has launched the School of Earth, Environmental, and Sustainability Sciences in response to climate challenges. The institute has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kerala’s Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) to cultivate skilled data science professionals. It also collaborates with the Technopark Technology Business Incubator and Kerala Startup Mission to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. Significant funding from the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, supports research on advanced AI applications in 6G networks. This initiative not only emphasizes academic-industry synergy but also positions IISER Thiruvananthapuram as a leader in AI development and data science education.
