Ike Barinholtz Set to Play Elon Musk in Upcoming AI Movie
Ike Barinholtz, recently nominated for an Emmy for his role in The Studio, is in talks to portray Elon Musk in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming film, Artificial, backed by Amazon MGM. This AI thriller also stars Andrew Garfield and breakout talent Yura Borisov. The movie is inspired by the 2023 upheaval at OpenAI, where CEO Sam Altman faced a rapid firing and rehiring, amid legal disputes with co-founder Musk, who split from the company over differing philosophies.
Produced by Heyday Films’ David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford, the screenplay is penned by Simon Rich, who is also producing. Guadagnino, known for films like Challengers and Suspiria, is set to debut After the Hunt at the Venice Film Festival. Currently, Barinholtz appears in Seth Rogen’s The Studio on AppleTV+, and is represented by UTA, Artists First, and Yorn Levine.
