Google is reportedly developing a new subscription plan, codenamed Helium, specifically for the Indian market. Priced at ₹500, it will initially offer a promotional discount of 50%, allowing users to access powerful features for just ₹250. Key features include Veo 3 video generation and Deep Research on Gemini 2.5 Pro, typically reserved for premium tiers. This affordable upgrade aims to complement Google’s free Gemini access as the Indian AI subscription landscape becomes increasingly competitive. OpenAI is also targeting this market with its ChatGPT Go plan, priced approximately 50% lower than its Plus version, further intensifying the competition. Given India’s rapid AI adoption and price sensitivity, Google’s strategic pricing could help secure user loyalty early on. While Helium seems to be in internal testing, integration with Google’s existing Gemini platform may enhance user experience significantly. No official rollout date has been announced yet.
