Indian scientists at S N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, in collaboration with Ashoka University, have developed OncoMark, an innovative AI-driven diagnostic model that analyzes cancer at the molecular level. This groundbreaking tool aims to revolutionize cancer classification and treatment by moving beyond traditional methods like TNM staging. OncoMark identifies key biological hallmarks related to cancer behavior, such as metastasis, immune evasion, genomic instability, and uncontrolled proliferation.
With extensive training on 3.1 million single cells from 14 cancer types and validated on 20,000 patient samples, OncoMark demonstrates over 99% accuracy in internal tests and retains 96% accuracy across independent datasets. Its ability to provide granular insights allows for personalized treatment strategies tailored to individual tumor behaviors. This advancement solidifies India’s position in precision medicine, paving the way for improved cancer diagnosis, early detection, and drug response analysis.
