In autumn 2023, Shruti Rajagopalan, a development sector professional from Bengaluru, sought fitness solutions for her Everest Base Camp preparation. Frustrated by local trainers’ availability, she turned to ChatGPT for workout guidance, finding it effective in generating tailored training plans. Entrepreneur Murali Balan also leveraged AI, using ChatGPT to craft a marathon training regimen, moving away from costly traditional coaching. Both discovered AI’s capacity for personalized fitness insights, instant accessibility, and clear explanations of training principles. However, experts warn that while AI offers convenience, it can’t fully replace personal trainers. AI lacks the ability to assess physical conditions or provide real-time adjustments, which could lead to ineffective or risky training. Consequently, while AI acts as a supportive tool for fitness journeys, the need for professional supervision remains crucial for safe and successful outcomes. Utilizing AI judiciously can enhance health, fitness, and nutritional efforts.
