IWF finds sexual imagery of children which 'appears to have been' made by Grok

The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) reports alarming discoveries involving “criminal imagery” of girls aged 11-13, reportedly generated using Grok, an AI tool owned by Elon Musk’s company, xAI. Analysts found sexualized and topless images on a dark web forum, with users claiming to utilize Grok for these creations. Ngaire Alexander from the IWF expressed concerns that such tools could mainstream inappropriate AI-generated sexual imagery of children. The imagery is categorized as Category C under UK law, yet it facilitates the creation of even more severe Category A images through other AI tools. Although the IWF monitors and reports suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM), it indicates that this harmful content has not yet circulated on the X platform itself. xAI has stated its commitment to combatting illegal content, emphasizing that users generating illicit imagery face severe consequences.
