Kazakhstan to boost usage of national messenger Aitu with free-of-charge chats and AI tools

In 2025, the Kazakhstani government, represented by AI and Digital Development Deputy Minister Dmitriy Mun, actively promoted the national messaging app, Aitu. To enhance communication accessibility, digital headquarters are working to ensure that Aitu offers free communication services, even for users with zero balance or empty data bundles. Mun highlighted ongoing discussions with mobile network operators to facilitate this initiative, aiming to benefit all citizens. Additionally, an awareness campaign targeted civil servants to encourage Aitu’s adoption in workplaces. The app has seen over one million downloads on Google Play, with plans in place to integrate AI-powered tools to assist users with practical tasks. Currently, Aitu features nearly 20 AI tools. Furthermore, Kazakhstan is set to unify public services through the eGov and Aitu platforms, enhancing digital development and accessibility for all citizens.
