Now, courts in Kerala to use AI tool to record witness depositions | Kochi News

The Kerala High Court is set to revolutionize witness deposition recording by implementing the ‘Adalat.AI’ speech-to-text transcription tool across all courts, effective November 1. An office memorandum from K A Joseph Rajesh, the registrar of computerisation, emphasizes that witness testimonies must primarily be recorded using Adalat.AI. In cases of technical issues, alternative transcription tools may be approved, provided they comply with the High Court’s security standards. Once recorded and validated, these depositions will be uploaded to the district court case management system (DCMS) for easy access by legal parties. This shift aims to modernize the evidence recording process and minimize delays, as current methods involve manual dictation or recording by authorized personnel. A pilot test of Adalat.AI launched on February 1 in select courts in Ernakulam, aimed at enhancing efficiency in cases of atrocities against women and children. This initiative marks a significant step towards digital transformation in the judiciary.
