Larry Ellison, co-founder and chairman of Oracle Corp. (ORCL), has reclaimed the title of the world’s second-richest person, surpassing Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Both are tied at a net worth of $251 billion; however, Ellison’s wealth surged by $59 billion this year, compared to Zuckerberg’s $43.4 billion increase. This places Ellison behind only Elon Musk, with a staggering net worth of $358 billion.
Ellison’s fortune, primarily tied to Oracle stock, has benefited from a 47.27% rise in the company’s shares over the past six months, fueled by easing U.S. export restrictions for semiconductor sales to China. This regulatory change has positively impacted Oracle, which has been expanding its cloud and AI capabilities, securing multibillion-dollar deals, and collaborating with firms like OpenAI. As Oracle continues demonstrating strong momentum, it remains a hot topic among investors.
