LinkedIn’s New AI Data Policy: What You Need to Know

Starting November 3, 2025, LinkedIn will begin utilizing user data to train its AI models, affecting members in the EU, EEA, Switzerland, Canada, and Hong Kong. Here are the key points you should be aware of:

  • Default Opt-In: Users will automatically have their profiles, posts, and resumes used for AI training, requiring them to actively opt out.
  • Easy Opt-Out Process: To opt out, navigate to the ‘Data for Generative AI Improvement’ setting under ‘Data privacy’. Note that opting out only applies to data collected after you make the change.
  • Exclusions for Minors: Data from users under 18 will not be included in this training.

This shift mirrors trends seen across tech giants, including Meta’s recent changes. Users are expressing valid concerns about privacy and consent.
