Human insight still irreplaceable for most, Linkedin research on workplace AI suggests

New research from LinkedIn reveals a striking contrast in workplace sentiments regarding artificial intelligence (AI). While 57% of professionals express optimism about AI enhancing daily work life, 46% feel overwhelmed by the need to learn new AI tools, likening it to taking on another job. Moreover, 51% believe they’re not maximizing AI’s potential, and 82% assert that human insight remains irreplaceable. Many exhibit frustration, with 28% embarrassed by their AI knowledge and 32% nervous discussing it.

Brendan Wong, LinkedIn Australia’s Career Expert, highlights the challenge of balancing daily tasks with the urgent need for AI skills. Despite tools like ChatGPT and Copilot gaining traction, professionals still primarily rely on human advice for critical decisions. Only 25% trust AI for sensitive choices, favoring guidance from colleagues (51%), friends and family (44%), and managers (35%). This data stems from extensive LinkedIn analysis and global surveys conducted from July 2024 to June 2025.
