Medable has introduced Agentic AI, an innovative “AI agent” aimed at enhancing the efficiency of principal clinical trial investigators. This technology automates the assessment of clinical outcome data, significantly reducing the burden on research sites. As Erika Motley, Medable’s director of product management, explains, Agentic AI stands out from generic AI by being goal-oriented and capable of providing context-aware decision support within regulated environments. This shift allows sponsors and sites to manage large volumes of data more effectively, freeing investigators to prioritize clinical review and approval. Traditional methods often lead to delayed reviews and increased backlogs in large-scale studies, but the PI Summary Agent streamlines these processes by notifying PIs when data is ready for review and generating structured summaries. This results in faster electronic sign-offs and improved operational efficiency, all while ensuring robust clinical oversight. Extensive user research underpinned the development of this vital tool, addressing major pain points faced by PIs and coordinators.
