Microsoft is exploring the integration of OpenClaw-style features into its Copilot AI assistant, aiming to enhance its functionality within Microsoft 365. This initiative seeks to enable Copilot to operate autonomously, completing tasks around the clock for users. Omar Shahine, Microsoft’s corporate VP, confirmed the company’s interest in adopting technologies like OpenClaw in enterprise environments. OpenClaw, an open-source platform for AI-powered agents, has gained traction but raises security concerns. Microsoft is taking steps to develop “safer” versions and is considering applications that could manage Outlook inboxes and calendars, offering daily task suggestions. Additionally, Microsoft plans to tailor OpenClaw-like agents for specific roles such as marketing, sales, and accounting, ensuring restricted permissions. These advancements may be showcased at Microsoft’s upcoming Build conference, aiming to recapture customers lost to competitors. By enhancing Copilot with these capabilities, Microsoft aims to deliver greater value and efficiency for enterprise users.
