The General Services Administration (GSA) has announced a significant agreement with Microsoft, granting U.S. agencies discounts on cloud services. This initiative aims to save the government up to $3 billion in its first year. As part of this collaboration, Microsoft will provide free access to its generative AI chatbot, Microsoft Copilot, for existing federal users. Additionally, agencies will benefit from reduced prices on cloud products like Microsoft Sentinel and Azure Monitoring. Federal agencies can opt into these offers until September 2026. This deal aligns with GSA’s ongoing strategy to implement commercial AI tools throughout the federal government, building on similar agreements with Google and Amazon Web Services announced recently.
