Timothy D. Cook has been the CEO of Apple Inc. since Steve Jobs’ resignation on August 24, 2011. Born in Alabama, Cook graduated from Auburn University in industrial engineering in 1982 and earned his MBA from Duke University in 1988. With 12 years of experience at IBM, he moved to Compaq as vice president before joining Apple in 1998 at Jobs’ invitation. Cook played a pivotal role in Apple’s supply chain and sales strategy, focusing on product range reduction and increased Asian outsourcing. He became Director of International Sales in 2000, later leading the Macintosh division, significantly boosting Mac sales. Cook served as Chief Operating Officer in 2007 and acted as CEO during Jobs’ health crises in 2004 and 2009. Known for his intelligence and strategic calm, Cook is less impulsive than his predecessor. He also sits on Nike’s Board of Directors, leveraging his marketing insights from founder Phil Knight.
